What Is Scar Tissue?

Scar tissue is formed by collagen. After an injury, your body lays down collagen that will become normal healthy tissue. The collagen cells are placed near the injured tissue in a random fashion, and this leads to scar tissue. Normal healthy collagen is aligned in specific ways and directions that give your tissue strength. We achieve this through movement therapy & hands-on release.

Scar Tissue Release Therapy is a gentle yet effective modality. In your session, you may feel such sensations as a slight tugging or pressure as the scar tissue is released. Your therapist will communicate with you throughout your session to ensure that you are comfortable.

Daily Self Care Is Encouraged To Continue The Release Between Treatments.

Movement Based Release

MELT employs the use of gentle tools and self-care protocols to improve the supportive qualities of the connective tissue system, scientifically called fascia as a vehicle to restore neurological stability and sensory-motor control. The ultimate outcome is pain relief and performance improvement.

A unique method employs a non-traumatizing, indirect approach to self-administered treatments using techniques similar to that of a hands-on therapist. Using active and passive methods that a person can quickly learn, these light-touch techniques help regulate sympathetic to parasympathetic tone, improve heart rate variability (HRV), and fine-tune sensorimotor control.

Benefits of Scar Tissue Release Therapy:

There are multiple reasons to undergo scar-tissue release therapy. Some are listed below.

  • Decreases pain and congestion

  • Improves flexibility

  • Lessens the appearance of scars

  • Helps to relieve stress on the body from fascial tension

  • Reduces muscle spasms

  • Promotes balance in the body

  • Helps maintain good posture

  • Improves athletic performance

  • Reduces the risk of muscle tears and strains
