Acupuncture stimulates the balance and flow of Qi energy that, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is considered essential to health. When the body is healthy, Qi (pronounced "chee") flows smoothly through the meridians that form a conceptual network of pathways throughout the entire body. When the balance or flow of Qi is deficient or obstructed, it may lead to disease or susceptibility to illness. Acupuncture treats both the symptoms and the root causes of the patient’s illness.

Atraumatic acupuncture needles are rounded at the tip so that they slide smoothly through tissue and are unlikely to cause bleeding. Needles are left in place for 15 to 30 minutes, during which time the practitioner may manipulate the needles to strengthen or reduce the flow of Qi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I be aware of before and after an acupuncture treatment?

A:

 1. It’s best not to come for acupuncture on an empty stomach. If you’d like to eat after your treatment, wait about 30 minutes for the best therapeutic effect.

 2. Avoid alcohol for at least 12 hours before and after your session, as it may interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment.

Q: How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
A: The number of sessions depends on your condition. Acute issues may resolve in 3–6 sessions, while chronic conditions often require ongoing care for best results.

Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: Most clients feel little to no pain. The needles are very fine, and many people find treatments deeply relaxing. Always let Dr. Zhong know how you feel throughout your session, and he will adjust accordingly.

Q: Is acupuncture safe?
A: Yes. Acupuncture is a safe, evidence-based therapy when performed by a licensed practitioner. Sterile, single-use needles are always used.

Q: Can acupuncture help with stress and sleep?
A: Absolutely. Many clients report improved sleep, reduced stress, and a greater sense of emotional balance after treatments.

Q: Do you treat women’s health conditions like fertility or menopause?
A: Yes, I specialize in women’s health and hormonal balance, including menstrual concerns, fertility support, and menopausal symptoms. We also suggest WombCare Sessions as an additional option, in addition to TCM sessions.

Dr. Xin Zhong, Acupuncture in Saskatoon, specializes in pain management, women’s health, fertility, digestion, immunity, and skin health. Restore balance naturally with safe, effective acupuncture treatments.
